Project info:

The main aim of this project was to create a detailed model for the mechanical engineering systems that are tailor-made for this building. This process started during the early design phase and continued up until the construction phase. The design was specifically made for a three-apartment block, with a shared living room located at the Minitopia site. The project's goal was to examine and evaluate the efficiency of three different sustainable mechanical and electrical systems. In the coming years, the sustainability results and feedback from residents will be carefully analyzed to make continuous improvements. We worked closely with the engineering team to meticulously design the entire MEP system, moving from the initial VO stage to the ultimate UO stage. Our focus was on ensuring the installation was not only met but exceeded the project's distinctive requirements, delivering an optimal and tailor-made solution.

The Challenge:

Designing a building of this nature poses certain challenges, especially given the restrictions of limited space for installations who all three needed a different approach whilst being in one building.  Making sure they work seamlessly together and giving the residents the comfor they want, was a nice challenge.

The Approach:

The project began with a comprehensive overview, wisely refraining from prematurely digging into details. Before focusing on the details of the fabric and assigning specific areas, the objective was to refine the overall concept.

The Outcome:

The result of these combined efforts is an innovative apartment building that combines virtual design with partial prefabrication. The optimized installations inside allow for thorough testing and monitoring once it's up and running, guaranteeing an innovative living experience, aligned with a sustainable living approach.
